SAM TAYLOR-JOHNSON BREAKS SILENCE ON HUSBAND AARON'S REPORTED CASTING AS JAMES BOND

Sam Taylor-Johnson has offered her opinion on reports that husband Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been tapped to take over from Daniel Craig as the new James Bond.

The director, 57, was appearing on ITV’s The Jonathan Ross Show to promote new Amy Winehouse biopic Back to Black when she was inevitably quizzed by the host about 007 speculation around her 33-year-old actor spouse.

“You mean that I might direct a Bond film? The first woman director,” she joked.

Adding: “Carry on speculating. He’d be great.”

The couple, who have a 24-year age gap, have been married since 2012 after meeting on the set of the 2009 film Nowhere Boy, which starred Aaron and was directed by Sam.

They welcomed their daughters, Wylda Rae and Romy Hero in July 2010 and January 20212, respectively.

Giving an insight into what it was like living with him while he was preparing for a role, she said: “It’s really interesting. When I directed Nowhere Boy, he wasn’t my husband. When I directed A Million Little Pieces he was.”

“He gets very intense. It’s quite interesting depending on what character he’s playing. Nocturnal Animals for example, was very hard. He was not washing, his nails were really long, he was drinking and he was watching a lot of serial killer documentaries. He wanted to be toxic from the inside in order to play such a toxic character. There was one morning when he woke up and thought the bed was on fire but we were actually saging him.”

The Jonathan Ross Show airs Saturday at 21:35pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
